A 23-year-old woman,Blessing Eyo Okon was on Friday eletrocuted when a Power Holding Company of Nigeria cable snapped and fell into a pool of water in front of her shop.
The incident occurred during a downpour at 25 Mount Zion Road, Calabar, the capital of Cross River state , reputed for having great deal of rainfall at this time of the year.
Describing the tragic incident, a friend and colleague of the deceased Grace who was in the shop at the time the whole event unfolded said, ““it was as if somebody poured petrol inside fire and Blessing had burns on her stomach and legs but those of the stomach tore open her stomach and left her intestines gushing out.”
Grace said that although all other people in the shop were able to scamper to safety, Blessing felt the effect most because she was not putting on her shoes at the time the power cable made impact with water.
Grace herself had burns on her legs, burns which will turn into ugly scars that will remind her of a day she lost a friend and a day she herself cheated death.
The deceased has since been deposited at the Calabar General Hospital mortuary.
Its pity 4 such ugly situation to hv occured. I pray that the family should take heart to bear the loss. May her beautiful SOUL rest in Peace.
