A business poster created for a lady from Ebonyi State has caused a stir on social media, as many initially mistook it for an obituary announcement.
The misinterpretation has sparked widespread reactions, with several netizens blaming the graphic designer for the misleading layout.
A Facebook user, Meme Plug General, first shared the image online, expressing his shock at the confusing design.
“Omor, I nearly typed RIP oo,” he wrote, admitting that he initially believed the poster was mourning the lady.
In reality, the poster was meant to promote a four-day business training event in Ebonyi. However, its design choices—including the font style, color scheme, and image placement—closely resembled a typical obituary notice.
The mix-up prompted social media users to criticize the designer’s work:
- Prince Kelly said: “I called the number on the poster multiple times, but no response. He would have heard from me. Nonsense.”
- Wisdom Aminayanasam added: “Designers need to be more careful. These banners should be created properly so they don’t send the wrong message.”
The incident has reignited discussions about professionalism in graphic design, with many urging designers to be mindful of how their layouts may be perceived to prevent confusion.
