At least 17 people on Monday lost their lives in an auto mishap that happened at Dogon-Kukah village of Damagum Local Government Area of Yobe State.
The accident involved a luxurious bus and a trailer coming from opposite direction, according to eyewitness account.
Mallam Isa Yusuf, Head of the accident and emergency unit of the Damagum General Hospital, told newsmen that 17 corpses were brought to the hospital and that 50 others were currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
In line with the Yobe State Government’s policies, those on admission would be treated free for 48 hours, Mallam Isa Yusuf said.
He said the passenger bus had a burst tyre on motion, before it rammed into the oncoming truck.
The corpse of the 17 people had been deposited at the Damagum General Hospital.
