Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, a legislator from Ondo’s Akoko Northeast and Northwest federal district, has resigned from the 10th National Assembly.
His resignation, according to Naija News, will take place a few hours before his minister-designate swearing-in ceremony.
Remember that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nominated and appointed Hon. Tunji-Ojo as a minister. Late on Sunday night, Tunji-Ojo submitted a letter to House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas in which he announced his resignation from his current post.
Tunji-Ojo acknowledged in the letter that his ministerial appointment required his resignation.

In his letter, he stated that “our dear country is in dire need of collaborative and concerted efforts that would engender the much-needed advancement to greater heights, and I have been appointed to contribute my quota to achieve that enviable objective as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
In the Ninth National Assembly, Tunji-Ojo chaired the Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) after being first elected to the House of Representatives in 2019.
In 2023, he won reelection.
In a small cabinet reorganization on Sunday night, President Bola Tinubu reassigned the former legislator, who was designated as minister of the newly established Marine and Blue Economy, to the position of interior minister. He was replaced by the former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola.
