A total of ten Nigerians on holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia have died, the National Hajj Commission has revealed.
This sad news was disclosed to Naijalog earlier today in a telephone chat, by the Coordinator of the Hajj Commission, Aliyu Tanko.
During the chat, Tanko urged pilgrims to always seek medical advice before embarking on pilgrimage and warned them against exposing themselves to the harsh weather in the Holy Land.
He also noted that despite the deaths recorded, the commission’s three clinics in Mecca and those set up by the various state pilgrims boards will continue provide effective medical services to Nigerian pilgrims in Mecca.
Another source who spoke with our correspondent said that some of the people who died had lingering health problems before going embarking on Hajj while the harsh weather conditions affected others.
