Osun state government has stated that it was all rumours and nothing of such happened. In a statement issued on Wednesday by Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Semiu Okanlawon said Aregbesola’s son didn’t travel nor had any encounter with security personnel today stating that people are out to drag Aregbesola’s name in dirt.
“It has become pertinent to inform Nigerians and others generally that there is no iota of truth in the story being peddled around by some misguided elements claiming that a son of Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, Kabir Aregbesola, was arrested at the Muritala Muhammed
International Airport in Lagos today Tuesday May 12, 2015, with a huge sum of money in foreign currencies.
“We have discovered the the authors of the wicked and malicious lie are doggedly pursuing their agenda by engaging in an aggressive push for the falsehood to reach a larger population especially using the social media,” he said.
Government officials making daily news involving one scandalous act or the other is a thing to raise an eyebrow. The new allegation and rumour, which surfaced first on Nairaland that Rauf Aregbesola’s son, Kabiru Aregbesola was arrested at the Lagos MMA1 with a huge sum of money leaving the country for United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The money, which was supposedly the remaining presidential campaign funds, was found in his luggage and he couldn’t account for it. Eye witness, Steven Adebola claimed that Governor Aregbesola came to the airport, some calls made to the senior immigration officers and the case was settled.
