Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, has given his approval for the disbursement of N10 million as a relief package for soldiers hurt in Borno combat.
The package fulfilled a promise made by Governor Zulum two months prior at a Sallah launch hosted by Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff.
The governor’s gift was presented to Major General Peter Malla, GOC of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army, on Saturday at the 7th Divisional Headquarters in Maiduguri by the state’s Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof. Usman Tar, with assistance from the Permanent Secretary, Mustapha Busuguma.
We are here to fulfill the promise given by His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Tar stated.
You might remember that the governor attended an event here on a Sallah day, where he expressed the dedication of the Borno State government to the welfare of our troops and promised to donate N10 million to soldiers who had been injured. He sent us here to deliver the gift this morning.
He also praised the military for upholding state peace and safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
As the GOC 7 Division accepted the gift, Malla thanked Governor Zulum for the kind gesture.
“Let me welcome you to 7 Division on behalf of Theater Commander and want to also express our appreciation to His Excellency for always supporting the military,” he said.
