Popular Nigerian rapper, Zlatan Ibile, has criticized the Federal Government over the worsening economic situation in the country.
He lamented that because of the government’s inaction, Nigerians are gradually becoming accustomed to hardship as a normal way of life.
Zlatan voiced his frustrations while reacting to British rapper Dave’s satirical take on wealthy club-goers and the poor beggars outside nightlife spots. He made the remarks during an interview with Madame Joyce in the UK.
“We are used to it [suffering and smiling], that’s how it has always been and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” he said.
The singer went on to express disappointment over how some beggars in Nigeria have turned begging into a profession, refusing to work despite receiving daily assistance from kind-hearted citizens, including celebrities.
He further described the sense of entitlement from some beggars as “annoying.”
Zlatan encouraged beggars to embrace meaningful and decent sources of livelihood instead of relying on handouts.
