American rapper Yung Miami has accused South African pop star Tyla of stealing her unreleased song.
The controversy began after Tyla shared a snippet of her upcoming single “Chanel” on social media on Thursday. In reaction, Yung Miami alleged that she had previously played her own unreleased track — also titled “Chanel” — for Tyla, claiming the singer copied her concept.
Expressing her frustration, the rapper said the situation left her feeling disheartened.
“This girl really ran off with my song and I don’t know how to feel about it. Mind you, I played this song for this girl,” she wrote.
When a fan asked for clarification, Yung Miami confirmed that her comments were directed at Tyla.
Her accusations have since stirred widespread debate online, with fans discussing issues of intellectual property theft and the often complex relationship between African-American and African artists.
As of now, Tyla has not publicly responded to the allegations.
