Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has responded to rumors claiming he is no longer involved in the lives of the children he shares with his first wife, May Edochie. The actor insisted that he still has a strong and active relationship with them.
The clarification comes amid ongoing divorce proceedings between the estranged couple. Speculation had circulated online suggesting that the actor had distanced himself from his children following the breakdown of the marriage.
Divorce proceedings face complications
Reports indicate that the divorce process has experienced delays due to disagreements between both parties. These disagreements reportedly involve issues related to remarriage rights and allegations of adultery.
Yul Edochie says he remains present in his children’s lives
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Edochie dismissed claims that he is absent from his children’s lives. He stated that he maintains regular communication with them and continues to support them financially.
He also pointed to recent milestones, including one of his sons gaining admission into the university and completing matriculation, as proof that he is still closely involved in their lives.
The actor also criticized how social media has handled discussions about his family, saying many of the narratives online are based on assumptions rather than facts.
According to him, the public often does not see the full reality of family matters because many important details remain private and never make it to social media.
Edochie further revealed that his silence and lack of posts about his children are due to a court order connected to the divorce case. He explained that the order restricts him from discussing or posting anything related to the children in order to protect them.
He maintained that much of the information circulating online is exaggerated and does not reflect the true situation.

“I am in contact with my children. I have heard a lot of things. About people saying, ‘he abandoned his children.’
“My second son just got into the university months ago. He just did his matriculation a few days back. Infact, he told me a day before time, and I told him I was busy
“The people here on social media are just one per cent of the truth. The real things happening in people’s homes, the main issues, do not even come out on social media. The crux of my matter is not on social media.
“Everything people say are all speculations. Someone comes up with something and blows it out of proportion. And then they were waiting for me to come out and respond.
“People are so interested in knowing what is happening. And most of them are even having family problems. They have not solved their own problems; they want to know what is happening in another man’s.
“There is also a court order. There is a divorce case going on. That is why I cannot really speak. It says anything that has to do with the children, for their own safety, I should not post
“They said no more posting.”
