The March 18 governorship election in Lagos did not go as planned, with reports of voter suppression.
Regardless of the events that occurred, the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, took to Twitter to thank Lagosians for re-electing him.
The tweet did not sit well with Nigerian rapper and activist Falz, who stated unequivocally that the governor re-elected himself.
The rapper emphasized that Sanwo-Olu was not re-elected because everyone witnessed what happened on election day.
He wrote:
“You were not re-elected. You selected yourself. Everybody saw it unfold. You are only deceiving yourselves.”

A Twitter user attempted to make fun of Falz by asking if he was upset about Sanwo-victory, Olu’s and the rapper responded in the affirmative.
He went on to say that the pain comes from seeing people turn against one another in order to win an election while the democratic process is undermined.
Yes it is actually.
The pain of knowing that brothers and sisters are being turned against each other in a bid to “win” an election.
Also the pain of seeing our democratic process rubbished before our very eyes
