The Court of Appeal overturned the Lokoja High Court’s decision against the EFCC and its Chairman in a contempt case brought by Kogi State Governor. The court granted the EFCC’s request for a halt to the execution and proceedings of the contempt case. The case EFCC vs. Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Appeal No: CA/ABJ/CV/413/2024, has been postponed to May 20, 2024. The appellate court’s verdict has halted the contempt proceedings against the EFCC and its chairman, allowing the anti-graft agency to appeal the Lokoja High Court’s decision. Meanwhile, Usman Okai, the PDP candidate for Dekina/Bassa Federal House of Representatives, claimed that Yahaya Bello tried to bribe a judge ahead of a tribunal ruling, in an alleged leaked WhatsApp conversation.
