WOMAN DRUGS LOVER, STEALS GOLD NECKLACE

The police in Lagos on Tuesday arraigned a 23-year-old woman, Florinda Asiaka, who allegedly put into her lover’s drink, a substance suspected to be hard drug.

Asiaka was also accused of stealing wristwatches, a gold necklace and N142,000 from the lover, Mr Oluwaseun Idowu.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the drug made Idowu to sleep for 10 hours.

Ajiteru said that the offence was committed at10p.m. on March 23, at 1, Oluseun Idowu Aleke St., Parafa, Ikorodu.

She told the court Idowu woke up in the night to discover that Asiaka, who was with him, had disappeared, and that some of his valuables were missing.

She said that the offences contravened Sections 241 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, who was charged with stealing and malicious administration of poison with intent to harm, however, pleaded not guilty.

Section 241 prescribes 14 years imprisonment for malicious administration of poison.

According to Section 285, anybody convicted of stealing will be jailed for three years.

The Senior Magistrate, Mr W.B. Balogun, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Balogun ordered that the sureties must reside in Ikorodu. He adjourned the case till June 19.
