President Bola Tinubu and public affairs analyst Durojaiye Ogunsanya attended Chicago State University (CSU) in the USA as classmates, according to Ogunsanya.
Ogunsanya and Tinubu both received their degrees from the university in 1979, he claimed in an interview with Television Continental on September 11th.
According to his credentials, Tinubu earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, and management from CSU in 1979.
However, there have been complaints regarding his certificate that appear to be anomalies.
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president, has asked a US court in Chicago’s northern district of Illinois for an order ordering CSU to produce Tinubu’s academic records.
Through his attorney, the president submitted a counterapplication that was in opposition to the demand for the disclosure of his academic records.
In response to Atiku’s request, CSU stated that, in the event that a US judge issues the order, it will reveal Tinubu’s documents.
Many Nigerians continue to question whether Tinubu actually graduated from the school despite the legal battles. In fact, Atiku’s attorneys have stepped up their legal efforts in America. In the middle of this, Ogunsanya confirmed Tinubu’s previous connections to CSU.
He said:
“People were being mischievous in the first place. We went to Chicago State University together. We were in the same department, college of accounting, business and administration.
“We were in the same class together. He attended Chicago State University, and he graduated.
“I am here to testify that he did attend the university and he was a good student.”
Following Ogunsanya’s disclosure, some X (formerly Twitter) users, shared their delight with the update.
Aseda Abayomi wrote:
“I am very happy. At least, he was bold enough to come out and testify.”
Patrick Idahosa commented:
“Yes, finally “one student” don show up wey go school with BAT.”
