Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed Luke Shaw will not feature in his plans because he is ‘long way behind’ Ashley Young, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind.
The 21-year-old defender arrived at the Old Trafford from Southampton for a British record deal but has fallen down the pecking order this season under Jose Mourinho, who has preferred Daley Blind or Matteo Darmian in the left back position. Shaw has also been unlucky with injuries since he joined Red Devils, getting sidelined on several occasions due to his injuries.
The Portuguese boss has publicly criticised the performance of the youngster, sparking speculations that Shaw might be leaving the Old Trafford in the near future. Jose Mourinho has again indicated that the left-back’s future at United might be over very soon.
When asked on possibility of Shaw getting into the starting eleven, Mourinho answered: ‘Who? ‘Luke Shaw? It’s difficult for him to be on the bench because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, with Darmian, with Blind.
‘I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare. He is a long way behind.’
When asked whether more should be expected from an England international, he replied: ‘Joe Hart is an English international and is playing on loan in Italy.’
