Former Nigeria captain John Mikel Obi has explained why he has never admired Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mikel Obi insisted he has always preferred Lionel Messi, the 37-year-old’s rival.
Ronaldo is currently a free agent after his contract with Manchester United got terminated earlier this week.
“I’ve never been a Ronaldo fan really.
“For me, when a player has so much ego, I don’t really get it. He’s never been one of my favourite players and that’s why I always go for Messi really,” Obi Mikel told Dubai Eye.
Ronaldo became the first player in World Cup history to score in five tournaments in a row.
The Portugal captain opened the scoring in their 3-2 group stage win over Ghana on Thursday.
