Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nassr’s star player, might be arrested and deported from Saudi Arabia.
Why is Cristiano Ronaldo at risk of being detained and deported from Saudi Arabia?
This comes after he appeared to make an aggressive gesture against Al-Hilal fans during a heated Saudi Pro League match. Al-Nassr lost 2-0 to their rivals Al-Hilal, falling three points behind the league leaders Al-Ittihad in the title race.
Throughout the game, Al-Hilal supporters teased Ronaldo with Lionel Messi chants, which appeared to irritate him. As he was leaving the King Fahd International Stadium, with the Messi chants still ringing in his ears, Ronaldo allegedly grabbed his genitals in response.
It is unclear what drove his actions, but Nouf bin Ahmed, a notable lawyer and UN Commission on International Trade Law expert, has revealed that she has begun the procedure for Ronaldo’s arrest and expulsion by submitting a petition to the Saudi Public Ministry.
“I don’t follow sports. Even if the crowd provoked Ronaldo, he didn’t know how to react. Cristiano’s behaviour is a crime”
“An indecent public act, which is one of the crimes that allows for arrest and deportation if committed by a foreigner. We will present a petition to the Public Ministry regarding the issue,” she said, according to Fichajes.
