Davido, a popular Nigerian musician, has acknowledged that the success enjoyed by current Nigerian artists is due to the sacrifices made by their predecessors. During a recent interview, he shared details of his first international deal with Sony in 2016. At the time, he had to reintroduce himself to the managers. As part of the deal, he had to work on an album with the Sony team. However, the album was not successful, as the producers and other members of the music team chosen by Sony could not fully understand the African style of music. As a result, Davido returned to Nigeria and worked with his own producers. He believes that the success of Nigerian artists today is a result of the hard work of previous generations of artists, such as P-Square, 2Face, and Dbanj, and the work of the present generation of artists will benefit the upcoming generation.
“What P-Square, 2Face, Dbanj sacrificed for us is what we're enjoying now”
