Weeks after a Ranking Website rated the University of Lagos the best university in Nigeria, Webometrics a renowned website that also ranks university has rated the University of Benin as the best univeristy in Nigeria.
The website however ranks the University of Lagos 55 in Africa and 5th in Africa, surprisingly Auchi Polytechnic occupies No.2 spot in Nigeria, with University of Ibadan maintaining the same No.3 spot it occupied in the other ranking, 2nd in the other ranking University of Ilorin is ranked 4th in the Webometric ranking.
UNIBEN although first in Nigeria, ranks 31st in Africa.
South African and Egyptian Universities occupy the first ten spots in Africa, this can be used as a yardstick to affirm that the Nigerian university system is in comatose and needs rejuvenation.
