Former lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola, and current Minister of Power, Works and Housing has said the All Progressives Congress-led federal government will ultimately achieve the promises it made to Nigerians during the last election campaign.

Fashola, while speaking on Monday at the federal government Town Hall Meeting in Lagos, said many Nigerians are not aware of the strides being made by the federal government because the administration is now in governance-mode and no longer in the campaign phase.

The former Lagos state governor said contrary to widespread perception, the government is connected with Nigerians and in tune with their pains, agitations and frustrations.

He said: “We hear you loud and clear. We are connected and our feet are on the ground but we are doing a lot more behind the scenes.”

The Minister further stated that of all his portfolios, the Housing sector is the most challenging, owing to the fact that the successful housing models of the past few decades have not been sustained.

“Housing is my most difficult responsibility”, Fashola said.

He however, said his ministry is currently working towards the creation of a good and sustainable housing model that will be beneficial to all Nigerians.

Fashola added: “In my ministry, results are measured by how much power you generate, how many roads and houses you build.”

He went on to stress that even while Nigerians are in doubt as to whether the change promised will come to fruition, ‘we haven’t achieved this results but we shall’.
