The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed its excitement following the official defection of Mr. Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, into its fold.

The Announcement

In a statement posted on its verified X handle on Wednesday, the party extended a warm reception to Obi, emphasizing that he enjoys the same rights and privileges as every other member of the party.

The post read:

“We are delighted to officially welcome the former two-term Governor of Anambra State, and Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 General Election, Mr. Peter Obi, into our party, the ADC,”

A Mass Movement

Reports confirm that Obi joined the party on Wednesday, accompanied by several other prominent political leaders from the South-East.

Mission for 2027

Explaining his move, Obi stated that the decision was driven by a goal to transform and rescue Nigeria. He further vowed that the opposition is prepared to “lawfully and legitimately” resist any attempts to rig the upcoming 2027 general elections.
