A viral video shows popular Afrobeats musician Davido accepting his Best Male Artist award at the recently held 2023 Trace Awards. The 2023 Trace Awards were hosted on October 21st in Kigali, Rwanda. The award is intended to recognize and appreciate African-inspired music and musicians. Rema took home the prizes for ‘Song of the Year’ for his hit song ‘Calm Down,’ as well as ‘Best Global African Artiste’ (in a tie with Nomcebo); Davido got two awards for Best Male Artist and Best Collaboration (Unavailable).
A video on the internet shows the artist mounting the platform and running towards the audience before settling down to frenzied screams and chants from his adoring fans.
He accepted his prize and continued to thank his fans for the honor, concluding his statement with “Oshey” before walking away with his award.
