Parties that want Catalonia to break away from Spain have won majority seats in latest regional elections.
The main separatist alliance and a smaller party won 72 seats in the 135-seat regional parliament.
The “Together for Yes” group of secessionists had 62 seats in the 135-member parliament, while the left-wing pro-independence Popular Unity Candidacy party, which won 10 seats.
The seperatists now have the 68 seats needed to to try to push forward their plan to make Catalonia independent from Spain by 2017.
The central government in Madrid will challenge such moves in court.
