West African Examination Council (WAEC) has said it will not lift the ban placed on 193 schools found to have recorded massive examination frauds in the 2012 May/June examinations.
Head of Public Relations Department of the council, Mr. Yussuf Ari who disclosed this , said the council would not bend its rules for any reason, thus, the reason for the schools involved to remain barred for the period of two years.
The punishment according to WAEC, will serve as deterrent to others, he noted.
A notice of clemency had earlier being filed before WAEC’s disciplinary committee, but the highest decision making organ of the examination body after diligent deliberations and reached a conclusion that the two years sanctions imposed on the schools last year should stand.
