A drunken man found dangling from an overhead power cable above a busy street was saved by Chinese firefighters who positioned a safety cushion beneath him.
The incident was captured on camera and broadcast on China’s CCTV state television.
The pictures show a man clinging to the wires upside down and moving slowly along the cables in the city of Linfen in Shanxin province last Friday morning.
One firefighter climbed up an electricity pole after power was switched off, trying to persuade the man to get down, but he refused, said CCTV.
Then the man suddenly fell onto the second layer of wires and dangled there for about 15 minutes before losing his strength and falling onto the safety cushion, CCTV showed.
CCTV said the man suffered no injury, but had an excessive amounts of alcohol in his blood.
