They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and for a young man from Australia, a thousand pictures tell the story of a three-year transformation into a woman.
An incredible time lapse video was posted on YouTube by a user nicknamed iiGethii stringing together scores of photos showing her gradual facial metamorphosis.
In the video description, the transsexual user, who is now in her mid-20s, writes that the pictures track her facial feminization surgery (FFS) – a three-year process compressed into one minute and 43 seconds.
The video begins with a picture dated December 8, 2009, showing a handsome man aged 20 or 21 with dark shoulder-length hair, chiseled square jaw and thick eyebrows.
The blur of images that follow track the subtle changes that play out on the man’s face in the months that followed, ending with a striking show of an attractive woman with high cheekbones and bangs from 2012.
A year into the process, the man’s eyebrows were sculpted into two feminine, thin arches, and the shape of his face became more narrow and rounded.
Other drastic changes reflected into the video include the Aussie’s eyes turning more catlike and his full lips taking a girlish shape.
The swarm of photos also show how the face gradually narrows down, with the chin becoming rounded, accompanied by different coiffures and makeup styles.
The final image in the video reveals the end result of the surgery: a face with delicate feminine features, high cheekbones framed by dark bangs and soft curls.
Since hitting YouTube in October, the video has drawn more than 375,000 views, with many commenters praising the end result of the transformation.
‘Wow, you make a much better woman than I ever will,’ wrote a user by the name DarkStarBurning.
Another comment read: ‘I’m so jealous of you, I’m at my five month mark right now, and i cannot wait till I hit my 3 year mark! Congratulations btw you look fabulous!!!’
According to the site FacialFeminizationSurgery.info, the multi-step procedure involves bony and soft tissue surgery of the face, neck, and thyroid cartilage. Some doctors include facial hair removal and hair transplants as part of the process.
While facial feminization surgery has become more popular over the past 14 years for those pursuing male to female surgery, such operations can be traced back to the 1930
