Victor Osimhen is in a race against time to be fit for Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
Osimhen was substituted after halftime in Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw with Kasimpasa last Saturday, despite scoring twice in the match.
Following the game, the 25-year-old striker revealed that his substitution was a precautionary move.
Galatasaray has since provided an update on his condition.
“The treatment of our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his upper left posterior muscle during the Kasımpaşa match in the seventh week of the Trendyol Super League and who was diagnosed with strain (strain and bleeding) in his upper left posterior muscle group during his check-ups at our sponsor hospital Medicana today, has been started,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
Super Eagles interim coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to announce the squad for the upcoming Libya clashes this week.
