The supposed Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) recently came under fire for threatening to rusticate a female student for wearing what he considered to be obscene clothing.
A video of the altercation between the vice chancellor and the student went viral on social media after it was posted, setting off a fiery discussion on campus and elsewhere.
The Vice-Chancellor is seen in the widely circulated video reprimanding the female student when they come into contact in the classroom.
The Vice-Chancellor, along by university representatives, questioned the student’s choice of clothing and expressed interest in how comfortable she felt wearing what he considered to be an immoral costume.

The Vice-Chancellor refused to change his mind despite the student’s request for him to do so, saying that the institution should not accept students who dress immorally.
The girl justified herself by saying that she was not baring too much skin and that she was at ease with the clothes she had selected.
However, the Vice-Chancellor’s answer was combative rather than opening up a productive discourse.
He gave the administrators the student’s matriculation number and other personal information, indicating that he intended to have her dismissed from UNIPORT.
