Veteran Nigerian singer Onyeka Onwenu reportedly collapsed and passed away after performing at an event in Lagos. The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 30th, at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.
Onwenu was attending a birthday party where she had performed on stage. After returning to her seat, she suddenly collapsed. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she was pronounced dead, though the cause of death has not been confirmed.
Onwenu had a distinguished career spanning over 40 years, excelling as a singer, songwriter, actress, journalist, and politician. She rose to fame with her first album in 1984 and became known for hits like “One Love,” “Iyogogo,” and “Ekwe,” leaving a lasting legacy in the music industry.
