Social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), on Monday spearheaded a protest in Auchi, Edo State, barricading Dangote trucks from using the roads until the company accepts responsibility for victims of its truck accidents.
Joined by students of Auchi Polytechnic, VDM demanded justice for Ruth Otabor, sister of BBNaija winner Phyna, who recently had her leg amputated after being hit by a Dangote truck just days after her graduation.
In viral videos, VDM was seen addressing a massive crowd, stressing that Dangote must cover Ruth’s medical bills and compensate other victims of similar accidents.
He declared:
“The people of Auchi have no choice but to stop all Dangote drivers from using our roads until the company compensates victims, regulates its drivers, and takes full responsibility,”
This protest followed another tragic crash that claimed three lives near Omega Fire Ministry in Auchi after a Dangote truck collided with a Mercedes Benz GLK.
Reacting to the fatal incident, Apostle Johnson Suleman, General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministry, condemned it as “an avoidable tragedy caused by reckless driving.”
Outraged by the recurring accidents, VDM vowed that Dangote trucks would remain banned in Auchi until justice and proper compensation are served.
