Controversial online personality Verydarkman (VDM) has been placed in EFCC custody following a court-approved remand order as investigations into alleged cybercrime activities continue.
As reported by NAIJALOG, the court granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission additional time to conclude their investigations and prepare formal charges in line with Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act.
VDM was reportedly arrested last Friday in Abuja by a combined task force consisting of the EFCC, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force. Witnesses stated he was picked up shortly after exiting a bank in the Wuse area.
An EFCC official, speaking anonymously, stated: “The court granted the remand order to allow us time to wrap up investigations. Once ready, he will be arraigned, and the charges will be significant.”
As of Monday, VDM remains in custody. His legal representative, Deji Adeyanju, has confirmed that efforts are ongoing to gain access to him while exploring all available legal actions.
