Controversial activist Verydarkman has responded to a trending Nollywood film inspired by his life, explaining why he’s unhappy with its production.
A poster for the movie, which recently went viral, shows veteran actor Gentle Jack portraying a character based on Verydarkman (VDM). The activist took to his Instagram page to express his thoughts about the project.
While he clarified that he doesn’t mind his life being adapted into a movie, his main issue lies in the lack of communication. According to him, the filmmakers never contacted him to understand or accurately represent his story.
“Honestly, I have a problem with it. I’m not even happy about it. Gentle Jack should have reached out to me and said, ‘VDM, what’s your story? I want to tell it properly,’” he said.
In the caption of his post, Verydarkman added:
“I’m sure many of you have seen the Nollywood movie where the legendary Gentle Jack plays me (Verydarkman). Honestly, I’m not happy with it. It made me cringe. I was extremely irritated watching it. They got the right actor and we look alike, but the storyline was just annoying.”
