Ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated cabinet reshuffle, popular social critic Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has urged the removal of the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
This follows remarks by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, who confirmed on Wednesday that a cabinet shakeup is imminent. Some ministers are expected to be replaced, while others may be reassigned to different roles.
In a video shared on his Facebook page on Friday, VDM appealed to the president to retain effective ministers but insisted that the Minister of Power should be dismissed. He criticized the “segregation of Band A, Band B, and Band C,” calling it illogical.
VDM questioned why some Nigerians enjoy up to 20 hours of electricity per day while others experience significantly less power supply.
He said:
“If at all any minister must be removed or reshuffled, it should be the Minister of Power. They need to remove that guy.
“My reason is this, the segregation surrounding the Band A, Band B and Band C issues makes no sense. What is the reason for that segregation? Are you trying to say that poor people do not have access to light?
“Is it that the poor people are not supposed to use light for 24 hours? It makes no sense because we are all Nigerians.”
