A U.S. military refuelling aircraft has crashed in western Iraq amid the ongoing tensions with Iran, sparking concerns that several American service members may have been killed.

The crash reportedly occurred during Operation Epic Fury, the military campaign currently being conducted by the United States Armed Forces in the region. According to United States Central Command, the aircraft involved was a Boeing KC‑135 Stratotanker, a refuelling plane designed to supply fuel to other military aircraft during flight operations.

Officials explained that the aircraft crashed following an incident involving two aircraft operating within friendly airspace. Authorities also noted that there was no indication that hostile fire caused the accident. The tanker went down in western Iraq, but the condition of the crew on board has not yet been confirmed.

Global Leaders Urge Restraint as Iran Launches Missile Attack on Israel

The crash comes at a time of escalating tensions across the Middle East, following ongoing strikes carried out by the United States and Israel against Iranian-linked targets.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his stance on continuing military operations against Iran, referring to the country as an “evil empire” and stressing Washington’s determination to stop Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.

In a message shared on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the United States remained committed to preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear capabilities and destabilising the region.

At the same time, the Israel Defense Forces announced that it recently carried out an airstrike on the Taleghan compound, which Israeli officials claim was being used to develop key capabilities linked to nuclear weapons.

The conflict has also triggered instability in global energy markets, with oil prices climbing close to $100 per barrel amid fresh attacks on cargo vessels moving through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined possible conditions for ending the hostilities, stating that the conflict could cease if Iran’s “legitimate rights” were recognised, compensation was paid, and guarantees were made to prevent further attacks.

However, Pezeshkian emphasised that the final decision ultimately lies with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Tensions continue to rise across the Gulf region, where several ships have reportedly been struck near the Strait of Hormuz in recent days, including tankers near Iraq and another vessel off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, underscoring the growing impact of the conflict on global shipping routes and energy supplies.
