The National Medical Services Laboratories (NMS Labs) in Pennsylvania, USA, has denied performing a toxicology test on the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
According to a report by Punch, NMS Labs confirmed that they did not conduct any toxicology tests to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death. This clarification was provided after Punch inquired about the test with the lab.
Previously, a pathologist testified before the Coroner’s Court on May 15, stating that an autopsy could not determine Mohbad’s cause of death due to the advanced decomposition of his body.
During the Coroner’s Court session in Ikorodu, state attorney O. Akinde mentioned that a toxicology test, which is part of an autopsy to determine the cause of death, was missing. Akinde also noted that the case was being handled by the state DNA and Forensic Centre, which collaborates with three affiliated centers in the US, including NMS Labs.
In response to Punch’s inquiry, Esther Dede, a Client Services Associate in the Forensics Division at NMS Labs, confirmed in an email dated May 17 that no toxicology test for Mohbad had been conducted at their facility. She emphasized that they did not have a case for Mohbad and highlighted the need for authorization from the submitting agency to comply with HIPAA privacy regulations.
