Riley Moore has once again urged the decentralisation of Nigeria’s policing system, calling for greater involvement of state governments in handling local security.
In a post shared on X, the United States lawmaker encouraged the Federal Government to step up efforts to safeguard citizens, especially in the Middle Belt region, where communities have continued to face attacks from extremist groups.
Moore has remained vocal about security challenges in Nigeria, particularly highlighting concerns around religious persecution and the growing threat of extremism. His stance is said to align with the policy direction of Donald Trump.
As part of his involvement, he led a bipartisan congressional delegation to Nigeria to evaluate the situation firsthand. During the visit, the group engaged with victims, religious leaders, and top government officials.
He has also pushed for Nigeria to be redesignated as a Country of Particular Concern over alleged widespread religious persecution a classification originally introduced during the Trump administration.
