Following an accident involving Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicles in the Ketu area of Lagos State, three people were killed and several others were injured.
On Wednesday, around 6.53 a.m., the incident occurred at inward Mile 12.
According to Adebayo Taofiq, spokesman for the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), the accident was caused by a brake failure on a red bus.
Asset Management Company operates red buses in Lagos as part of a public-private partnership to supplement the services of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
According to Taofiq, preliminary investigations revealed that the brake failure caused the bus to collide with a commercial bus.
Because of the collision, the commercial vehicle rammed into pedestrians and people waiting at a bus stop.
“The remains of the deceased have been evacuated, while the injured are being treated in the hospital,” he explained.
