Barely 24 hours after unknown gunmen wrecked havoc at a Deeper Life Bible Church at Ottie, Kogi State, another set marauders have attacked Muslims who converged at Okene Central Mosque to listen to a Ramadan Lecture.

In the latest attack four people were killed, including two soldiers.

 

The attack which took place at about  4.30p.m. according to eyewitnesses started when some men dressed in white caftans stormed the mosque and shot sporadically at people seated in the mosque.

 

The gunmen came in a Toyota Hilux car, committed their nefarious act in an orchestrated attack and vanished into the thin air before  security operatives arrived.

 

A source, however said that a soldier stationed at the mosque killed two of the gunmen before he himself was gunned down.

 

In the wake of the incessant attacks, the Govenor of the State, Idris Wada has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew and asked the police chief in the state to beef up security across the state.

 

Meanwhile official count of those confirmed dead in the attack on the Deeper Life church has risen to twenty.

 

Sixteen worshippers died instantly on Monday night when gunmen invaded the church and opened fire on them,  four victims who had been hospitalised after the attacks died on Tuesday.
