Nicolas Aina, a Nigerian man, has been charged with his mother’s murder following a stabbing in East London.
Caroline Adeyelu, 64, was attacked at a house on Auriel Avenue in Dagenham on Sunday, according to the Evening Standard.
The 28-year-old is also accused of attempting to murder another unidentified woman in her 30s.
Ms Adeyelu died at the scene, while the other woman, who had also been stabbed, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Her condition is not life-threatening, according to the Metropolitan Police.
Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 9.30 p.m.
Aina, of Auriel Avenue, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Thursday, according to the police.
The incident was described by police as “truly shocking,” and a neighbor said she heard screaming on Sunday night.
