A heartbreaking incident has occurred at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), where a first-year student is reported to have taken his own life after walking in on his girlfriend with another man.
According to circulating reports, the student paid an unannounced visit to his girlfriend’s hostel, only to find her in an intimate situation with a fellow male student. Overcome with shock and heartbreak, he reportedly fainted at the scene and had to be carried back to his own hostel.
Tragically, not long after the encounter, the student is said to have ended his life by hanging, unable to cope with the emotional trauma.
A video that has since gone viral shows law enforcement officials and university personnel retrieving the young man’s body from the premises, as investigations are underway to uncover the full details of the incident.
The tragic event has stirred a range of responses online — from sorrow and sympathy to criticism and calls for mental health awareness. Many have expressed grief over the loss, while others have emphasized the need for young people to seek help and support during emotionally challenging times instead of turning to self-harm.
As of now, UEW has not released an official statement. However, the Ghana Police Service has launched a formal investigation into the matter.
Update was that, he stumbled on his girlfriend with another guy in bed in her hostel room. He fainted and was brought back to his hostel.
Unable to bear the pain, he took the coward lane. Yes. Sad but he’s a coward for this. God forgive us all.
