South African music sensation Tyla is set to make history as the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The show’s organizers announced the host and nominees for the 2025 edition on Thursday. Tyla, a Grammy Award winner, will lead the show live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
She also secured two nominations: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for the track ‘Show Me Love’ with WizTheMc and bees & honey.
Topping the nominee list are Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga with four nominations each. They’re followed closely by Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, who all earned three nominations.
Reacting to the news on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday evening, Tyla excitedly wrote, “I’m really about to host the kids choice awards.”
