An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on Thursday in Lagos remanded two brothers in Ikoyi prisons for allegedly killing their father.

Rasaq and Yusuf Abiona of ages 34 and 27 – are standing trial on two counts of conspiracy and murder, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

 

 

The plea of the accused was not taken when the charges were read to them and the Magistrate, Mr. F.M. Kayode, ordered that they should be remanded in prisons, pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions.

 

 

Earlier, the prosecutor, Mr. Paul Inedu, had told the court that the two brothers allegedly killed one Sunday Abiona, 65, on February 28, about 10pm.

 

He said, “The two brothers hit their father with an iron which resulted in his death during a quarrel with the man.

 

“They were arrested by the police with the help of one Fatima, one of the children of the deceased.’’

 

The case has been adjourned till June 6.
