President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the state of the United States, calling it a “disaster” and a “laughing stock” globally. His remarks follow a tragic event in New Orleans, where a U.S. Army veteran, allegedly inspired by the Islamic State, drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people.
Trump attributed the incident to open borders and what he labeled as weak and ineffective leadership. He directed criticism at the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and Democrat-led state and local governments, accusing them of neglecting their duties to protect Americans.
In a post on his X account, Trump wrote:
“Our country is a disaster, a laughing stock all over the world! This is what happens when we have open borders and ineffective leadership. The DOJ, FBI, and Democrat prosecutors have failed, spending their time unlawfully attacking me instead of focusing on protecting Americans from violent threats.”
He accused Democrats of corruption and called for immediate action from the CIA, warning of a breakdown in safety, national security, and democracy. Trump emphasized the urgency of strong leadership and closed his statement with, “See you on January 20th. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
