Sadiq, son of the Convener of the Northern Elders’ Forum, Ango Abdullahi, who is one of the kidnap victims of the AK9 Abuja- Kaduna bound train attacked by terrorists on March 28, 2022, has regained his freedom.
It was reported that the victim’s family said they were ready to negotiate the release of their loved ones if given the option by the bandits to do so.
One of the victim’s family leaders, Dr. Abdulfatai Jimoh, had told new men that 30 days after the incident occurred, they had been in the dark over the matter.
He said, “The situation is still the same. There is no communication from them (bandits). As I said, the last time they called was our relations that we spoke to. We have not spoken with them (bandits) at all.
“From what they (kidnappers) said, it was the government they wanted to talk to, so they have not called us. But assuming there is an option, we would have explored the option.”
However, on Sunday, one of our correspondents in Kaduna gathered that the son of the former Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University regained his freedom from his captors after an unspecified amount of money was allegedly paid as ransom.
Sadiq was the second to be released after the terrorists freed the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Alwan Hassan, whom they (terrorists) claimed was left to go on age ground.
Since then, there have been calls by well-meaning Nigerians to release the other victims of the train attack, which claimed nine lives, including a young medical doctor, Dr. Chinelo Megafu.
