Dr. Fabian Osita, a lecturer in the Business Department at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has tragically been shot dead by a car-snatching syndicate.
The incident occurred on Monday, December 16, near the high-tension area in Aroma, Awka, while Osita was driving home from work.
According to The Punch, a source reported that the assailants intercepted Osita’s vehicle in an attempt to steal it. The gunmen ultimately made away with his car, a 2006 Toyota Corolla, ash in color, bearing an Enugu State plate number.
The armed men double-crossed his Toyota Corolla car as he was driving and made an attempt to take it, but he put up a resistance and unfortunately, he was shot in the head and he died instantly.
“The hoodlums abandoned his corpse and drove away in his vehicle. He was already dead before help could come to him.”
Ken Chukwurah, the institution’s Chief Security Officer, confirmed that the case has been reported to the Department of State Services (DSS).
Meanwhile, Anambra State Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, called on eyewitnesses and members of the public to provide any information that could assist in the investigation.
