Residents of Mile 2 were woken abruptly when a tanker full of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol exploded and went up in flames.
According to eyewitnesses, a tanker with number plate XB 370 ATN was descending the Mile 2 bridge around midnight Saturday, February 18 when the fuel compartment overturned.
At the site of the accident charred remains of human parts and goods littered the ground.
Private cars, inter-state commuter buses belonging to Osariemen Motors, Ufuoma Motors, and Lord’s Banner Motors, towing vans, abandoned buses as well as a store house were razed by the inferno.
