Tottenham Hotspur have ended their partnership with interim manager Igor Tudor after just 44 days in charge, following a disappointing string of results.
Tudor, who stepped in on a short-term basis after the sacking of Thomas Frank in February, managed only seven games, recording five losses during his brief spell.
A statement from the club confirmed the development, stating:
“We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect.
“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly. We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
Tudor’s exit comes at a time when Spurs are battling poor form, sitting just above the relegation zone in the Premier League after a series of underwhelming performances.
His final game in charge ended in a 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, adding to the growing concerns around the team’s struggles.
During his time, Tottenham also suffered a heavy 5-2 loss to Atlético Madrid in the Champions League. Although they won the second leg 3-2, it wasn’t enough to secure progression.
The club added: “An update on a new Head Coach will be provided in due course.”
Having been a constant presence in the Premier League since its inception in 1992, Tottenham now face mounting pressure to turn their season around as they prepare for their next match against Sunderland.
