Several Nigerians, including prominent political figures such as Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, Dino Melaye, and Aisha Yesufu, have taken part in a protest in Abuja.
The demonstration, tagged ‘Save Democracy protest,’ is being held outside the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Participants were seen dressed in T-shirts bearing the inscription “Operation Save Our Democracy,” while others held red and white placards displaying different messages, including calls for the removal of the INEC chairman.
“INEC Chairman Amupitan must go”.
The protest follows INEC’s recent decision to stop recognising the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction led by David Mark.
