Tonto Dikeh, a Nollywood actress, has reportedly been taken to court over an incident in which she conducted a deliverance session on a schoolgirl within a school environment.
The actress is facing a N200 million lawsuit filed at the High Court in Abuja by human rights lawyer Ikechukwu Obasi.
Obasi, who initiated the legal action on behalf of a Junior Secondary School (JSS 1) student from Rivers State, alleged that the teenager was subjected to what he described as a harmful religious ritual. He also claimed that a video of the incident was later shared online.
According to the lawyer, the distribution of the clip without the student’s permission breached her privacy rights “under Section 37 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Child Rights Act 2003.”
In the suit, Obasi is requesting N200 million in damages, a public apology, and the removal of the video from all social media platforms. He also asked the court to declare the incident a violation of the student’s constitutional rights to dignity and personal privacy.
Reports from NAIJALOG recall that Dikeh had earlier shared a video showing her performing a spiritual deliverance on a schoolgirl during a visit to a secondary school in Durumi II.
