Nigerian media personality and actress Toke Makinwa has shared that her options for marriage are now more limited, and she’s open to being a second, third, or even fifth wife if the opportunity arises.
Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast Toke Moments, which she posted on her YouTube channel, the 40-year-old actress discussed her perspective on relationships and independence.
Makinwa asked her guest, Banke Kuku, “As independent women, do you think we’ve made independence seem too glamorous?” to which Kuku responded, “Yeah, it’s tough.”
Makinwa then opened up, saying, “Let me be honest, Banke. Forget the cameras. At this point in my life, if the chance comes to be the second, third, fourth, or even fifth wife, I’d take it.”
She went on to explain that being in charge all the time is exhausting. “The biggest challenge for me is that I’m the boss everywhere, and it gets tiring. Sometimes, I just want someone to lean on, someone who can decide what’s for dinner—does it always have to be me?” she added.
Toke Makinwa was previously married to businessman Maje Ayida in 2014, but their marriage ended in 2017. In November 2024, rumors surfaced claiming that she had married her longtime partner, Farouk Umar, but Makinwa quickly dismissed the reports, clarifying that they were just “besties” and the alleged wedding was actually her Thanksgiving event.
